Jez Dolan incorporates and responds to people’s personal journeys in work which is one-off, specific and meaningful
This project was commissioned by South Wirral High School, a national school of creativity, as the final part of their two year programme. During June & July 2011, Jez worked with artists Dan Fox, Sean Creagh and a group of year 7 pupils to create a site specific installation using film, audio, photography and sculptural and elements, which reflected an intense collaborative working process, using as a starting point the 25th anniversary of the school.
Following creation of the work during summer 2010, 'Our House' the Prevent II installation was opened in a vacant shop in the Accrington Arndale centre in November. The project follows on from the Prevent programme 2009 and examines students' ideas about terrorism and violent extremism. Jez worked as lead artist on the project, joined by musician & sound artist Dan Fox, filmmaker Michael Wray, and additional technical and rigging from Sean & Jay Creagh, and Simon Hanson.
Working with year 7 secondary school students on an exploration of what it means to be happy, what happiness means to them, and how we can express these ideas using visual art techniques.
The finished work is a series of mixed media collage works installed in the school
Working with a group of ten young men, and artist Sean Creagh on an exploration of identity using photography and installation based in a terraced house in Nelson Lancashire.
